What is Cupping?

Cupping is a traditional therapy, where cups are placed on the skin to create suction using heat and can be left in place or moved across the body depending on the treatment style. Our practitoners offer different options including Tibetan East/West Cupping and traditonal Chinese cupping as part of a broader treatment approach. It is commonly used to support muscular tension, circulation, soft tissue recovery and physical stress held in the body.

People seek cupping to help with:
  • Muscle tension and tightness

  • Neck, shoulder and back discomfort

  • Physical stress and fatigue

  • Sports recovery and muscular soreness

  • Headaches linked to tension

  • Restricted movement and stiffness

  • Circulation and soft tissue recovery

  • Stress-related holding patterns

  • Respitory issues including asthma, lingering cough after virus, and sinus related issues

  • General recovery after physical strain

How cupping may support you
  • Creating suction to lift and decompress soft tissue

  • Supporting local circulation and blood flow

  • Assisting muscular release and relaxation

  • Supporting recovery from physical strain or overuse

  • Helping ease stiffness and restricted movement

What to expect

Your practitioner will discuss your symptoms, treatment goals and any relevant health considerations before beginning. Cups are then placed on selected areas of the body, often over the back, shoulders or areas of muscular tension.  Cupping may leave temporary circular marks on the skin, which are a normal response to the suction and usually fade over time. Your practitioner will explain what to expect and adjust the treatment to suit your comfort and presentation.
